Vino for Veterans Day

This Bergstrom pinot from Oregon (Dundee Hills 2008, one of the best vintages for OR in the last decade) is fantastic.

I just popped the cork and it's already aromatic and fresh...after even an hour exposed to air it should progress nicely.

Aroma is of oak and smoke, while the expected red fruit (strawberry, raspberry) is the foreground with slight vanilla and dark chocolate notes in the background. If you like a hearty pinot versus those really light almost too accessible pinots then this deserves a place in your glass.

You can get it at 129 in LeClaire; tell Kevin I sent you. You won't regret it...and a visit there is never a bad thing.

Next issue: hearty dishes for Fall and wines to match.

Drink up my friends.
